Letters "Shin and Sin"/ Letters "X", "Y" and "Z"/ Shavuot

What an amazing week we had! Learning letters Shin and Sin was tricky and fun! Letter Shin says "Shabbat", "Shmuly", "Shema" and "Sheket" (Silence) Letter Shin even makes the silence sound "Shhhhhhh...". We came up with many ways of recognizing and distinguishing the two letters. We loved playing a "Shin" and Sin" jumping game where we had to jump to the right for "Shin" and to the left for "Sin".

Aleph-Bet Yoga. Rafi came up with this "Shin"

Here's another cool way!

We came up with a new way of asking for quiet "Shin" Sheket" and reminds us to be quiet.

Shhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

We made "Shema" bracelets to help us know the right hand to cover our eyes when we say "Shema".

Shin says "Shabbat"

Tracing the letters

For letter "X" we created our own X- rays by tracing parts of our bodies on black paper with white chalk. We also made cool xylophones on a giant "X".
For letter "Y" we made the coolest "Yo-Yo's" ! they were completely edible! we rolled string licorice around sandwich cookies and wallah we made yo-yos!

For Letter "Z" we turned a giant "Z" into a "Zebra". We also made the cutest "Zebra" puppets.

Painting "Zebras"

Experiencing "Shavuot" this week was an incredible experience! especially that we been counting the "Omer" every day and seeing how close we are got us really exited !
When Morah brought a present to the class we didn't know what was inside! She gave us a clue... the most precious treasure of all was inside. We understood when we saw a "Torah". We loved hearing the story about the other nations not wanting the Torah and the Jewish people saying "Naase" Ve"Nishma".
it was really fascinating to learn how and why Hashem chose "Har Sinai" to give the Torah on and We loved acting out the song.
After Visiting the "Shul" we made our own Torahs. we wrote Aleph bet letter with a special feather and made a beautiful dress and crown for the Torah.
We also learned about the Jewish people getting ready to receive the Torah, by being "K'Ish Echad B'lev Echad" Like on person with one heart, We decided to experience this by tying the whole class together and walking to other classrooms. It required a lot of patience, coordination and team work".
We also learned about the mitzvah of "Bikurim" and tomorrow we will have a special ceremony with flower crowns etc recreating this beautiful Mitzvah.

He asked the other nations do you want this gift of mine??

Hashem should give the torah on me!!
